OK, so I'm a stickler for spelling. Sue me. I think misspellings say a lot about a person. But let's face it, some words are just plain confusing. We could have a long, technical talk about the linguistic forces that conspire against us... But I'm an illustrator, not a linguist, so I'd rather see it all laid out in funny pictures.
Here are some of the kinds of words we'll be looking at on this blog:
And here's how we'll be looking at them:
Warning-label chic. Nice and simple, silly when possible. I hope you enjoy it.
I plan to post a new pair of words every Sunday. Feel free to drop me a line. And by all means, please share it with your friends. Maybe we can all become better spellers someday.
Thanks for stopping by,
Bruce
Love it! Can't wait for more.

Love this. I am also highly irritated by misspellings. Did I spell that right? =)
ReplyDeletea person is as big as the things they let bother them...i have so many friends who speak many languages i would never take issue if i can 'get' their meaning...however i would like my grandchildren with 12 +, 10 +, 8 + years of USA schools to get most of the easy 4, 5 and 6 letter words used every day spelled correctly....i'll watch and enjoy this thread...thanks
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be fun! I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!
ReplyDeleteThanks ever so much, I've just found your blog and plan on sharing your images with my students who always struggle with literacy. Rebecca
ReplyDeleteThanks Rebecca! I hope I can live up to your expectations. :)
ReplyDeleteI love your blog very much. I used some of your illustrations to remember English vocabulary in Anki Flashcard software. But it doesn't seem enough. So I created a deck that named Micro Reading and add all of your illustration into that. With this way, I can read all of your blog entries, one by one everyday :D
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words! I'm not familiar with Anki flashcards. I hope they're of good use to you, but please keep them only for your own personal use. If Anki is some kind of sharing platform, or subscription service, please don't distribute my work to others through Anki. Thanks.
