Flew, Flu, Flue

Trying my darndest to come up with a bird flu / bird flew joke here, but I just can't pin one down. Maybe you can? Leave it in the comments!

Lead & Led

With an A – a heavy metal, atomic number 82.
Without an A – past tense of, well, Lead. Oh, sheesh, that's confusing. "Lead/Lead" would be a good candidate for Homographs, Weakly, if I decided to branch out a bit.

And speaking of heavy metal:

Brewed & Brood

It wasn't until I had finished drawing the chicks in the nest that I remembered brood has a second definition. Not only does it mean a group of offspring raised at the same time, it also means to contemplate, ponder, or worry. Which, if you ask me, seems like the same thing.

J & Jay

Eventually, Homophones, Weakly should be a little desktop reference dictionary, right? (Or at least a dictionary-like app.) As such, I think it would be nice to have at least one entry for each letter of the alphabet. So I took a look through what we've done so far, and was surprised to find that I hadn't done anything starting with J yet.
So here you go.
Now if I can just come up with something for X and Z...

Coop & Coupe

Coop – a small living space built for birds such as chickens or pigeons.
Coupe – a two-door car with a fixed roof.
One of my all-time favorite jokes: Why does a chicken coop have two doors? Because if it had four, it would be a chicken sedan.

Arc & Ark

Couldn't make up my mind which pair of drawings to post today. On the one hand, I like the similarity of shapes in this one:

On the other hand, any excuse to run this one again is good enough for me:

Miner & Minor

With an E – A person who digs a mine.
With an O – Small in size, significance, etc. A person under the legal age of responsibility. A musical term relating to scales with certain intervals lowered by half steps. Also, a secondary, subordinate educational degree – but that implies the "lesser significance" definition, doesn't it? So I didn't draw anything for that.
(Of course, I suppose the musical "minor" implies that definition as well, with the lowered notes. But I did decide to include that in the picture. Well, what can I say? I'm an illustrator, not a linguist. And definitely not a perfectionist.) :)
