Shone & Shown
-one – past tense of Shine.
-own – past tense of Show.
At first, I was simply confused with the phrase 'past tense' because it reffered to quite different forms. So, You meant by the phrase 'past tense' two different tenses: past simple for 'shone' and past participle for 'shown'. Now, it is clear. P.S. I am your regular reader.
Oh man, I'm sure I learned all those distinctions at some point. But then I learned to draw. :) Thanks for bearing with me if I oversimplify my terminology.
As far as I know, 'shown' is past participle form of the verb 'show', isn't it?
ReplyDeleteI believe so, yes.

And, of course, 'shone' is also a past participle form.
