How about some posts in a new category: HOMOGRAPHS!
These are words with different meanings that are spelled the same, but pronounced differently. I've been keeping a list of them as long as I've had my list of homophones, and I think it's finally time to draw some of them! :)
I thought that sort of word play was just another homophone. A "homoGRAPH" Huhn. I learned something today! Thx!
ReplyDeletehomo- – same
Delete-phone – sound
These have different sounds, so they're not homophones. But they do have the same appearance/spelling (-graph), so they're homographs! And I've got a bunch more headed your way over the coming weeks! :)
What I want is a nice "dessert"
ReplyDelete...apple pie (or fritter), or ice cream sundae (on a Sunday, or any other day of the week), fudge brownie, ....
